Ruzaini Hamdan

Owner, catering business · Subang Jaya

Before the Tidy Bench Review, I kept telling myself things were fine but feeling vaguely unsettled. After one session I had a short list of exactly what to look at first. Nothing dramatic — just clear. That list is still on my wall.

The Set the Tools engagement helped me finally sort out my pricing. I had been undercharging for custom orders for years and knew it, but kept avoiding the conversation. Nadia walked me through it without making it feel like a confrontation with myself.

Owner, electrical contractor · Shah Alam

I joined the Whole Workshop Programme eight months ago and it has become the one fixed point in my month where I actually think about the business rather than just reacting to it. Monthly sessions, a clear shared document, and someone who remembers what we discussed last time.

Owner, home bakery · Klang

I was hesitant because advisory felt like something for bigger businesses. The session was nothing like I expected — more like a thoughtful conversation with someone who happened to know a lot about running a business. The written notes were genuinely useful.

The plan we made in the Set the Tools engagement was actually usable — not a glossy document I could never refer back to. Two pages, clear priorities, written in plain language. I have looked at it regularly. Worth every ringgit.

I appreciated that there was no pressure to sign up for more after the first session. I took a few weeks to think about it, then came back for the full programme. That freedom to pause made the whole thing feel much more comfortable from the start.

Case Studies

Closer looks at three engagements.

Each situation was different. The approach adapted to fit.

The Situation

A food and beverage owner in Shah Alam with three years of trading had never stepped back to look at the business as a whole. Revenue was steady but profit felt elusive. She was not sure where the money was going.

What We Did

The Tidy Bench Review covered her cost structure, menu pricing, and supplier arrangements. We identified two areas — one pricing decision and one supplier relationship — that were quietly absorbing margin.

What Changed

Within three months of the session she had adjusted her pricing and renegotiated one supplier contract. She described it later as the first time the business had felt properly organised in years. Duration: one session.

The Situation

A sole-trader providing IT support services to small offices had grown to the point where he could not manage all clients well on his own, but was uncertain whether to hire or limit his client list.

What We Did

Set the Tools sessions focused on his service tiers, client profitability, and what a first hire might actually look like. We built a simple decision framework he could apply over the following months.

What Changed

He chose to limit clients strategically, raise his retainer rates for complex accounts, and defer hiring by six months. He described the plan as "finally having the thinking written down." Duration: two sessions plus follow-up.

The Situation

A retail business owner managing two outlets in the Klang Valley was considering a third location. The existing two were profitable, but her energy was stretched and she had concerns she could not quite articulate.

What We Did

The Whole Workshop Programme gave her a steady monthly space to think through the expansion question from different angles — financial, operational, and personal — without being rushed into a decision.

What Changed

After four months she decided not to expand — a decision she felt confident about rather than regretful. The concerns she could not articulate turned out to be about sustainability of pace, which the sessions helped her name and weigh. Ongoing relationship.
