Intan is a small business advisory practice based in Shah Alam, Selangor. We exist to give owner-operators a calm, clear-eyed partner — someone who listens before suggesting anything.

Our Story

Started quietly, built carefully.

Intan was set up in 2019 by a small group of advisors who had spent years inside large consultancies and wondered whether there was a better way to work with smaller businesses — one that did not import all the hurry and jargon that comes with bigger firms.

The practice takes its name from the Malay word for diamond — something that forms under steady pressure, over time, without rushing. That is the spirit we try to bring to each engagement. No theatrics, no inflated promises. Just patient, careful attention to what is actually happening in your business.

We are based at Quayside Mall in Shah Alam and work with clients across the Klang Valley and beyond, meeting in person or online depending on what suits each owner best.

Running a small business in Malaysia involves a particular set of pressures: managing cash flow across longer payment cycles, staying competitive in a market where customer expectations shift quickly, and making decisions without the safety net of a larger organisation behind you. We understand these pressures because most of our clients deal with them week to week.

Our advisory practice is built around structured listening and careful reflection. Before we suggest anything, we take time to understand how your business currently operates — not just the numbers, but the day-to-day rhythms, the relationships with customers and suppliers, and the owner's own sense of where the energy goes. Many of the most useful observations come from this kind of attentive questioning.

Our base in Shah Alam puts us within reach of a large number of Selangor businesses, and our online capability means we work just as naturally with owners in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, and elsewhere in Malaysia.
